AWANA is a nondenominational youth ministry committed to "reaching boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him." The weekly AWANA clubs all function basically the same way.

AWANA is divided into six clubs, and at Highlands, we offer three of these on Wednesday Nights during the school year! Cubbies, Sparks, and Truth & Training are our main focus, however, we do support students who desire to continue on into middle school (Trek) and high school(Journey).

PreK-TK (Cubbies) - celebrate the spiritual potential of preschoolers by helping them learn core truths about God, Jesus and salvation. Cubbies at Highlands gather on Wednesday nights for dinner (potluck style!), devotions, Bible memorization, and worship! The Cubbies mascot is the adorable Cubbie Bear, who walks with preschoolers as they learn more about God!

K-2nd (Sparks) - discover how Sparks ignites children’s curiosity and builds a foundation for knowing Jesus Christ. Sparks at Highlands gather in teams, and rotates through Worship, Small Groups, Large Group, and Games. Their mascot is Sparky Firefly, who journeys with them through the books of the Bible!

3rd-6th (Truth & Training) - discover how T&T can encourage kids to explore the meaning of God’s grace and how it affects our relationship with Him and others. Truth & Training clubbers at Highlands gather in teams, and rotates through Worship, Small Groups, Large Group, and Games.

AWANA club features three segments: in Game Time, clubbers play unique AWANA games; in Small Groups, clubbers have a devotional time with leaders where they will pray together and work through age-appropriate handbooks memorizing Bible verses. Clubbers earn awards based on their work. During the final segment - Large Group, clubbers learn Bible stories and lessons based on Christian principles.

Our club gives priority to the Bible as the Word of God. The vital scripture verses on Salvation and Christian growth are the heart of all AWANA achievements. AWANA meets on Wednesdays (Sept - May) from 6:00-8:00PM and is for kids from Kindergarten to 6th grade. (Cubbies is available for parents who volunteer in the program)
