Highlands is proud to host AWANA for families throughout North Los Angeles and the Foothills.
You don’t have to attend Highlands to be part of AWANA, every family is welcome.

What is Awana?
AWANA is a global children’s discipleship ministry that has been helping churches and families introduce kids to Jesus and build lasting faith for more than 70 years.
At Highlands, AWANA gives kids a place to belong, learn the Bible, build friendships, play, and discover what it means to follow Jesus.
Each week combines biblical teaching and Scripture memory with small groups, games, activities, and plenty of fun.
Learn God’s Word
Kids engage with the Bible in age-appropriate ways and learn Scripture they can carry with them throughout their lives.
Build Relationships
Consistent leaders and small groups give kids a place to be known, ask questions, and grow alongside friends.
Have Fun
Games, activities, team challenges, and special nights make AWANA something kids look forward to every week.
What Does an AWANA Night Look Like?
Every Wednesday is designed to engage the whole child, heart, mind, and plenty of energy. Here’s what to expect:
Large Group
Kids gather for Bible teaching, encouragement, announcements, and awards as we discover together who God is and what it means to follow Jesus.
Small Groups + Scripture
Kids connect with consistent leaders, work through their AWANA materials, talk about what they’re learning, pray together, and memorize Scripture.
Game Time
AWANA is supposed to be fun! Kids participate in games and team activities that build friendships, sportsmanship, and a sense of belonging.
There’s a Place for Every Kid at Awana.
Kindergarten–2nd Grade | Sparks Sparks helps younger elementary kids build a foundation for knowing Jesus through engaging Bible stories, Scripture memory, relationships, and fun. 3rd–6th Grade | T&T Truth & Training helps older elementary kids dig deeper into the Bible, understand God’s grace, ask meaningful questions, and learn how their faith shapes everyday life.
AWANA at Highlands isn’t just for Highlands families.
Kids join us from throughout La Crescenta, Montrose, La Cañada, Glendale, and the surrounding Foothills. We love being a place where families from different churches and communities can come together.
If you’re looking for a midweek environment where your child can make friends, have fun, learn the Bible, and grow in faith, we’d love to have them join us.
